Can getting a second dog help stop separation anxiety in the first one?

My dog at the moment is only 5 months old. He is wonderful and I, being a stay at home mom, normally take him almost everywhere I go. But there are obviously times when he needs to stay home for a couple hours by himself. This is when he gets destructive. Not real bad but as he gets older it could get worse. Do you think getting another dog could help this? I’ve always had more than one dog at a time. This is actually the first time I’ve had only one. I’ve never had to deal with separation anxiety in a dog but I know it exists. Thanks. Please no stupid remarks or comments. I know how to take care of my dog.
Just in case anyone asks, the one I have is an Australian Shepherd. He is learning obedience and flyball and gets plenty of exercise and attention when we’re home.

How do you help a dog with seperation anxiety?

My 5 lb toy poodle was attacked by a pit bull in January. Ever since she has (understandably) experienced severe seperation anxiety. I have tried everything I know to do getting nowhere. My landlady just told me that she has been flipping out during the day while I’m at work. I really don’t want to have to move…any ideas?

How can I relieve my dog’s major anxiety when riding in the car?

My year-old lab goes nuts in the car and whines loudly. He paces and yips and is unconsolable. He is on a soft blanket in the cargo area and can see and hear us. He loves to go to the park or long walks and is better on return trips – probably because he’s then exhausted. He gets very excited when I bring out the leash and jumps excitedly into the car, but starts the anxiety attack as soon as the car rolls out the driveway. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 2 year old min pin and he has what I would believe is anxiety. He has a nervous shake. Everytime he gets excited or scared he will start to shiver. When there is nobody home with him he won’t eat. He has become quite thin and I am now very worried about him. Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem without taking him to a vet?
