I have medi-cal at no cost. And I NEED help with this social anxiety disorder ive looked up the symptoms online and it seems as if that is what i am suffering from. So my question is do I go to my regular doctor and he will send me to a psychiatrist? Im so lost, please help!

I need to go in for my yearly visit but lately i’ve been having some anxiety and depression issues that seem to be becoming worse. Becuase of insurance I realize I need to be reffered by a doctor and just can’t make an appoint with a psychiatrist. Can I go to the gynecologist and while I’m there get a refferal to a psychiatrist for counseling and medication?

The reason i ask (I plan on seeing a doctor, this week), that I share alot of the same symptoms. Primarily Anxiety in a majority of social situations, depression the last few months, I am always cold, loss of apetite. I have anxiety disorder and depression, and my psychiatrist mentioned that it may be good for me to get on medication for my condition(s). I was wondering what is the difference between anxiety medications and anti-depressants? Can they be taken together or would they interfere with eachother? Would it be wise for me to take medications for both conditions?
